Leadership Accountability

No leaders have taken responsibility, and without accountability, the same mistakes will be repeated in the next disaster.
Leadership at both the city and county levels has refused to take responsibility for any of the catastrophic failures in fire preparation, response, or recovery. Instead, blame has been shifted onto fire victims, suggesting they failed to prepare or follow unclear and inaccurate guidance.
Public trust cannot be rebuilt without transparent acknowledgment of mistakes. We demand that leadership:
- Issue a formal apology to affected residents.
- Publicly release internal reports and communications related to fire response decisions.
- Commit to a full, independent investigation of response failures.
Accountability is the first step to prevention. Without it, the cycle will continue.
